Searchable PDF Hot Folder is a program that monitors a folder for Tiff images and PDF files and turns them into searchable PDFs. If you are scanning new files, scan them as a tiff and allow the program to do the OCR and PDF creation. Otherwise the PDF is converted to a tiff and then OCR'd and put back together which is a less efficient way of processing the files. 

If you experience any difficulty with the program change the input format. There are over 20 different tiff formats. Ideally you would scan at 300 dpi and use G4, Fax 4, CCITT4 or black and white multipage. All of these are different names for the same format.

The program will process all the files in a file folder hierarchy so you can point it at a root folder and create a subfolder for each user.

This program requires two open source programs. One is GraphicsMagic and the other is tesseract-ocr . You must agree to their license terms, please note that no changes to the programs were made by eDocfile and it uses the default windows build.

The install loads the 32 bit versions of their setup programs. If the 64 bit version is wanted, uninstall the program from the control panel and download and install the 64 bit version from their websites. Searchable PDF Hot Folder will automatically update its settings for your change.
